What is Data and Why is it important?
We are reminded everyday that Data is big, small, smart, broad, open, and linked , but rarely do we actually encounter attempts to clearly define what it actually is — hence the creation and publication of this presentation “Understanding Data” by our CEO Kingsley Idehen.

Note about trace JDBC connections. This also comes in handy when troubleshooting setups such as our JDBC-ODBC Bridge and/or LOD Cloud Knowledge Graph connectors (drivers).
-
How do you transform an N-Tuple Relation in a typical SQL compliant #RDBMS into an RDF 3-Tuple using our #VirtuosoRDBMS?
-
The most important part of the Web is the URI. Augmented Reality (AR), like every other Web Innovation, simply benefits from the power of hyperlinks functioning as URIs. Powerful technology is about loosely-coupled components rather than monolithic “silver bullets”
-
An insightful post titled “Read: Co-Immunology and the Web” that covers the history, nature, and implications of the Web in our quest for a post-COVID-19 Society in which sociality functions, sustainably.
-
The Web provides us with the power to reclaim control over our Identity. As in all cases re power, you have to take it rather than hoping it will be given to you. There is an unbelievable magic to being You!

There’s a more detailed post about Identity titled Web, Logic, Sentences, and the Magic of Being You!

What is the super power of a Hyperlink?
Answer:
A single identifier that offers both denotation and connotation by way of indirection. Making it a powerful Data Source Naming tool!
UsageExample:
Every hyperlink on the Web abstraction layered atop the Internet.
-
Sometimes we forget, or it just isn’t so obvious:
DNS – names machines.
ODBC – names data sources using X.500 standard
JDBC – ditto, but using a #URL and its own scheme
HTTP – names docs (data sources)
URI – names anything
HTTP + URI – names anything + inbuilt lookup

Community forum note regarding #VirtuosoRDBMS performance optimization.
Default settings are conservative, so check INI settings for optimized use when going live or running benchmarks.

The tech industry didn’t take Data Centric App development seriously until the arrival of COVID-19, apparently.
Apps are Data Silos vectors by current design.
RDF, Linked Data principles, and Ontology exploitation are keys to solving these Data Integration problems.
-
OpenID Connect has now been implemented by Apple, Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and many others, a great step re loose-coupling of Identity, Identification, Authentication using open standards and associated protocols.
Here’s a screencast demonstrating how this affects SPARQL query service endpoint authentication using our URIBurner service which provides a powerful bridge to the LOD Cloud Knowledge Graph.
-
Here’s a screencast demonstrating why a SPARQL query results page doc URL is a powerful interface for accessing the same COVID-19 related data in a variety of formats e.g., CSV for GoogleSpreadsheet integration.
-
Data heterogeneity will always exist.
RDF deployed using Linked Data principles that’s informed by an Ontology is a solution to this problem.
-
Another insightful piece from The Atlantic about the continuing data related issues associated with COVID-19.
