Issue with Virtuoso RAM

Good morning,

I am working with a Spain public administration .

In it, we use Virtuoso but we have a problem.

The problem is that for some reason we don’t know, Virtuoso is generating an anormal temporal documents and this is consuming all RAM in the server which is hosted.

Is it possible to fix this problem with a new version?

Best regards,

What version of Virtuoso are you running? Output of one of these commands is a good starting place –

  • for Open Source Edition

    virtuoso-t -?

  • for Enterprise Edition

    virtuoso-iodbc-t -?

How much RAM is in the system? And how have you tuned Virtuoso?

Are you aware of any particular queries which seem to cause the “anormal temporal documents” to be generated?

Good morning Ted,

Our version of Virtuoso is Open Source Edition. In particular, The version of the Virtuoso is 7.2.1.3214-pthreads.

The server where Virtuoso is has 8Gb of RAM.

You should definitely update your Virtuoso – as 7.2.1.3214 dates from 2015-06-12, and there have been hundreds (1500+ commits!) of changes (fixes, enhancements, etc.) in the intervening 4 years.

You did not indicate whether you have done any performance tuning, particularly as regards use of available RAM.

If neither of these adjustments resolve the issue, we’ll need to see at least one example query (if not several) that causes the “anormal temporal documents” to be generated.

Good afternoon,

Thank you for your recomendation.

We are going to try to upgrade our Virtuoso versión.

Regarding the RAM, we have already increased the RAM but it does not resolve the problema.

We will let you know when we upgrade the Virtuoso version

Best regards,
